Saintes Circle Has New Name for Month of December

Fonmeadow HOA President Brian Rhone (left) and board member, Dave Gossom (right), were recently presented with a Certificate of Authenticity by Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen and Council. The subdivision’s street on which they live among with 22 other residents was renamed for the month of December. Missouri City now officially boasts a Candy Cane Lane in the city during the holiday season. With Rhone and Gossom are Councilmember Eunice Reiter, holding one of the canes like the ones lining the Fonmeadow subdivision, and Mayor Allen Owen.
“Twenty-two homes in our subdivision, have perfectly lined up candy canes for the holiday season,” said Brian Rhone, Fonmeadow HOA President. Mayor Allen Owen and the City Council presented Rhone and Dave Gossom, another Fonmeadow board member, with a Certificate of Authenticity on Monday, December 3rd.
The holiday spirit caught on at Saintes Circle with homeowners as they decided to join Shevador Albro’s lead, according to Rhone, who says she placed the first decorative candy canes in front of her yard. From that moment on, the sequence continued with home after home displaying the candy canes unifying the street residents with a picturesque holiday look for their neighborhood. This is why their street has now officially become known as Candy Cane Lane this month with the city’s designation.
“The evening after City Council ’s street name change, residents from the entire street turned out, apple cider was served and everyone was given a red shirt and a copy of the proclamation as MCTV caught it all on tape,” recounts Councilmember Reiter, who attended the neighborhood event. “Pride reigned,” she says.
In appreciation for the endorsement by Mayor Owen and the City Council, Rhone says that residents living on Saintes Circle a/k/a Candy Cane Lane intend to start an annual holiday tradition.

“I was initially looking for a city proclamation for Saintes Circle to be named Candy Cane Lane for a day,” said Rhone, “and add to that, the Public Works department changed the street sign from Saintes Circle to Candy Cane Lane today,” he said on Tuesday. “This means a lot to our street and a lot to our neighborhood.”
The holiday spirit is also visibly high throughout many other neighborhoods in Missouri City, heightened recently by the spectacular city organized SNOWFEST event as well as the season kick-off at the Township sponsored by merchants.
